We invited our very own Francisco Roman, Business Manager at PrimeIT to tell us a little about his path, as the employee that has been with us the longest. He began by “flying” high with aerospace engineering but soon decided to land in our offices in Spain.

You’ve been with PrimeIT Spain for almost five years now. Can you tell us what brought you to us?

Five years ago, I was finishing my degree in Aerospace Engineering, so I did not know much about the labour world (I was only 21 years old).
When PrimeIT offered me this fantastic opportunity I thought I was very lucky (or maybe it was fate), but I didn’t think twice about accepting the job. The values of PrimeIT and the chance of growing were too attractive for me.
I received the call asking to join PrimeIT when I was on my way to Porto for the holidays. It sort of felt like fate at the time.

We saw that you started your career in aerospace engineering. What made you change to business?

I chose the degree in Aerospace Engineering as a challenge. One of the hardest studies to prove to myself that I could do it.
However, I consider I have always been a businessman. I enjoyed trading or buying & selling anything that I could, to get extra money during my university period so business was a lifestyle for me.
In the third year of my Aerospace degree, I decided to start a new degree in Business Administration. I almost died that year, but it was worth it!
So, thanks to my technical mind and my business skills, I got to be a Business Manager.

Tell us a little bit about your path with PrimeIT Spain.

My career at PrimeIT Spain has been changing at the same time as the company is evolving. PrimeIT Spain had just started operating 6 months before I did.
My first year was difficult. The IT sector is really competitive, and we had to win our place in the market. In this job, the only way to be successful is to be resilient, constant, and gain the trust of the clients to reach organic growth. The first step is always the hardest.
The next years were easier, we trusted our values and PrimeIT’s working methodology. People started to believe in us as a trustful company and so, I started believing in myself. I assumed more responsibilities as a Junior Business Unit Manager, so I had to take care of my junior team too.
But COVID-19 emerged, and we had to adapt to it. It was a long and tough year, working from home, maintaining our employees working as usual, even though some of our clients struggled with keeping people happy in the COVID situation. Still, in 2020, we increased our operations by 20%.
At this moment, after COVID-19 and having overcome the difficulties, the Prime Team is stronger than ever and, I hope to continue our expansion.

Can you share with us a little bit about your day-to-day at the office?

The best part of being a Business Manager is that every day is different. Each client and candidate have very different needs so, our response must be creative.
We spend the day in meetings. Keeping the relationship with our clients and employees is crucial, and of course, trying to grow our business made us busy.
But a common day always includes daily meetings, training sessions and a lot of laughs and coffees. For us, professionalism is our identity though we have a comfortable environment to make our job easier.

We take happiness in the workplace very seriously at PrimeIT. What are your thoughts about this?

That’s our key to success! Happiness is our way to provide excellence in service.
If the Primers are in a comfortable work environment, we will continue to grow as a company. And of course, people would want to stay and develop their careers at PrimeIT.
So, we do a real effort trying to achieve everybody’s expectations to make them happy.

Where do you see your career with PrimeIT in the next 5 years?

I will still consider myself a Junior Business Manager. There are a lot of things that I have to improve before reaching my next goal. Maybe in five years, I will be able to reach the next level and open a new office in another city in Spain or abroad. I prefer working on short-term objectives to fulfilling long-term ones. I think PrimeIT counts on me to make big things happen for the company.

Is there any feedback you would give our candidates about PrimeIT? What are the reasons that you think they will value when joining our team?

We care about people and there aren’t a lot of companies that truly care as we do. At PrimeIT, the team works to develop their professional career through training and ensuring a good working environment. I encourage the candidates to meet us and see by themselves the way we work.

Is there any motto you live your life by?

Be water, my friend.
It’s about not being rigid and stubborn towards your beliefs, just adapting to new circumstances in life and trying to make your best in every moment.
